Recipe for homemade granola

Today’s culinary offer is a healthy, easy and very tasty breakfast. Surely you, like me, have heard a lot about the benefits of oatmeal. Some time ago I often included them in my menu, but over time their taste began to repel me and after a few bites I just gave up. However, the American alternative to muesli was the thing that made me love them again. Toasted and crunchy, the nuts acquire a great taste, which my friend could not resist and now every day I prepare a bowl for him.

For me personally, homemade granola is a much better solution than ready-made in stores. You have the freedom to include your favorite nuts, dried fruits, spices and combine them as you like best. In addition, after cooking, the kitchen smells amazing, and the next day for a minute your breakfast is ready.

I had copied the recipe from somewhere a long time ago, so I didn’t invent it myself and tried it for the first time these days. In any case, I guarantee that the preparation is extremely simple, and the products, as well as the ratio between them, are not strictly defined. The freedom is huge. See what you have in your refrigerator and if you count, add or replace any of the listed ingredients.


To fill a large jar are enough:
200 g of oats
150 g of nuts / walnuts, almonds, hazelnuts, etc./50
g of coconut shavings
50 g of seeds / pumpkin seeds, sesame, sunflower or other /
1 or 2 tsp cinnamon / for me with more, it becomes more fragrant /
150 g of dried fruits / raisins, cranberries, dried apricots, etc./
5 tbsp. honey
5 tbsp. olive or
vanilla olive oil / optional /

Choose a medium sized tray, not too small. Pour the oatmeal, seeds, nuts, cinnamon and coconut shavings on baking paper. Drizzle with honey and olive oil / coconut oil / and stir. Place the pan in a preheated oven at 180 degrees for 25, 30 minutes. The important step here is to mix the mixture well every 4-5 minutes to bake all the products well. When the granola turns golden, you can take it out of the oven and mix it with the dried fruit. The larger ones should be pre-cut into small pieces.

Once the granola has cooled, you can serve it in a bowl with yogurt or milk. Transfer the rest to a storage box or jar, where it will last up to 2 weeks. However, watching how often Georgi and I eat it, it would hardly stay that long.
